Is the Nela premium any good? Was tempted a few months ago, though I stuck with the tried and tested MT. The Nela does seem a lot harder though. Take longer to break in? Cheers

He's a knobhead mate. I wouldnt worry about it. I mentioned a few personel problems I had on a post and he more or less told me I was a loser andi was all my fault etc. I read another post before when he called someone a w**k*r? Just vicious

Buy one and try it. Trowels are not expensive

I just tonight ordered 18" mediflex (nela)
£55
I could of got ps4 fifa 17 or no mans sky
For roughly the same price !!
Or 4 packs of nappies and 4 packs of wet wipes.
Or new bloody bed sheets (potty training the little scamp)
Or got my 6 year old her new roller skates.
But i ended up getting the lot.
(Except ps4 games)

I've the 14inch medi flex, think was 39.99 or something like that. Have went through a couple superfluous, unfortunate falls killed a couple. Was wondering if the hard one is any good, looked at 1, but the one I looked at I wasn't happy with the shape the blade but likely just a bad one so that put me off and I just got the MT then. Definitely seem harder than mts though.

I have the original version which I think is different to the new premium ,think @Marshy has it and can advise..

This year I had a dream to not put plaster on with a trowel anymore and not trowel up and finish with a traditional hand held trowel ever again..

My dream has nearly come true

It depends what you do, if you use some s&c or render i'd say the premium is a great trowel. I have one and it took months and months to wear in as we mainly just do skimming. A month or so ago i got bored and bought a MT i'll never bother buying a different one again there just great out the box and more comfortable to use imo. The premium always felt to rigid or thick for some reason, peesonal preference but worth trying

I've got a nela premium it's a great trowel. I seem to swap and change between my Carbon mt and my nela. The nela handle is more comfortable and the trowel is better made but the Carbon breaks in quicker and seems to leave a nicer finish. Will be interesting when nela do a carbon...

How do you intend to trowel up without a trowel?

It's always bedazzles me that people doing so much research into a £50 trowel. As said if you don't like it sell it on. It's not like you have to take a payday loan out for it to purchase one.

Simply want to know people's opinions on it, see if they are catching on, local hardware store stocks them so people must buy them, yet I haven't seen anyone I've worked with using them yet. Actually one did but all he kept it for was squaring reveals. Coated only reveals with it. Everyone still goes Marshall town myself included.

I had a negative premium 16" but it got damaged a little. It has come back in to use as a trowel to cut in to those angular areas after I went at it with the grinder.

Just got a nela premium trowel from gypsum tools, it came very well wrapped, its in a nice box, it says it has 5 years warranty. It's mint, it feels bomb proof just like some of the really old trowels use to. I reckon it's going to take a few weeks on the S&C to break this bad boy in though, no big deal as I reckon this trowel is going to turn into something a bit special. Another 30 years down the road and plasterers will be saying"do you remember those nela trowels? Man they were good, shame they don't make em like that anymore.

I've got one, used it today laying on "zombiemix".......brilliant! A joy to use, flattened with no corner lines, its brand new, never been broken in. Love it.

It's a fine trowel, it's reassuring not to see the rivets through the blade aswell. Very comfortable handle.
I took the handle off a flexi and put it on my older MT floating trowel. Not exactly the same size so had to coax it on with a hammer lol it's a good job though lol think might bite bullet next new trowel I but I'll try the 13 or 14inch Nela. I was out off as the one I looked at had slight bend out the way, and buy I know with one does the same.

The premium is a nice trowel mine is 3 yrs old and broken in nicely, only ever used on gypsum.
I find with Mt they always loose their shape and become concave on the edge, my nela is holding its shape even the corners are still relatively square.

The new ones are very good and as with any trowel all personal preference. I for example can't stand the old tyzack because of the handles. some prefer the wooden handles on trowels some the rubber (bit kinky) or the Cork which for me is for wine bottles only not trowels?? If you like MT'S you won't be dissapointed with the premI'm if that's any help??
