Anyone know where I can get a decent deep mixing bath for knocking up krend? Got one out of toolstation but feels quite shallow.

My mate works at sainsburys and they use something like this but bigger, they do a whole range. Have a hunt around tinternet

that's 165 litre tub 10 bags of uf fibre base coat is the most I mixed in it but that's a brimmer ,9 is enough

Got it off a site on the internet 4 years ago ,can't remember the name but it was some in Hampshire I seem to remember

Ive got the tool station one. Manage to knock up 3 bags of toughcoat at a time.

Do you not think its hard work to knock up in it? Seems to take forever as so shallow and long, last job we were mixing on a bit of a slope so it kept overflowing at one end while trying to mix.

mix it direct in the skip, that way it saves you time later on, when it cracks etc :rolleyes)

No not at all. 3 bags fills it up nicely so the paddles covered. Wouldnt fancy doing 1 bag in it

How much do you get in it?
These days only on Saturday:RpS_w00t: , think the lad gets s/c 6 ,bags , hardwall 3 , mono weber 7 bags, not all at the same time :RpS_wink:,,great tubs last forever mate , i have seen them free on gumtree at times

This is what we find works best for us , 15-20 bags mixed up before we start, gives the lab a chance to stay ahead of us then
These mortar bins are just the job :RpS_thumbsup:
Mixing bath

How does he move the mortar bin when its full of gear??

Loving the palm trees by the way......................was in Miami.............................:RpS_unsure:

olican. what if i told you they invented a machine half the size and weight of that mixer that will mix everyone of those bags automatically to the same consistency at a rate of 1 per minute. then the same machine will send that mixed gear straight past the big tub the ginny wheel and the labourer, then past you and straight on the wall. all you need do is keep moving spreading the stuff about

We came very close to buying a machine but decided to push the business in a different direction ( refurbs, renovation and domestic) that said, never say never. Each year we do less and less site rendering which suits me fine for now. One day maybe

do you do much rendering at all or do you mean just less jobs on sites
We still render, got about 400 metres of sand and cement to finish off before we start 4800m of skimming so will be indoors for a while. We did a couple of hundred metres of k-rend last month but have not done a big external for a while. Like I said, you never know what's around the corner. We did 1500 m of mono about 18 months ago and contemplated a machine then but decided against it. Your machines look a lot slicker than I've seen.

my mate uses a dustbin... has 2 handles as well :-)

He also uses it to mix 3 bags of finish up in as well :RpS_scared:

Mixing bath
We have access to one of these but always thought k rend needed whisked. Spoke to k rend technical there and they say it can be done but you do it at own risk as they only recommend whisk. Do many folk use mixers for it?
