I come skim room.
You pay me this.
I go.
Ugh!
I seen a lead on a website was sumat like all downstairs re-skimming plus hallway and landing..budget was £800 lolI'm not a fan of this type of contacts. Being told what your going to get paid etc. I know it works for some and that's fine. Its defo not for me tho
Thats exactly my point its bad enough going into a job "blind" but to be told how much your getting paid for it !??? No f**k**g chance!!!I seen a lead on a website was sumat like all downstairs re-skimming plus hallway and landing..budget was £800 lol
We was thinking about going on about a year ago until I seen some of leads..there laughable some of them..Thats exactly my point its bad enough going into a job "blind" but to be told how much your getting paid for it !??? No f**k**g chance!!!

I have a small ad in a free book that goes around full of local trades shops and services etc. Its a bloody goldmine. Pays for itself after first 2 or 3 jobs normally![]()
There was a thread not all that long ago about this form of advertising and a good few of the well known lads on here had tried it wether it was trust an arsehole or check a numpty i cant remember which one but one of them according to those who had tried this stated you pay for a "lead" plus they dictate how much you can charge and at the time i posted saying similar to whst i have on this. Which is why im repeating myself (again)Well you have been misinformed my friend, it baffles me how you can slate something you have not used or have knowledge about
As I say I'm only going off what was posted and a good part of it was very negative and as some were regular posters I had no reason not to believe them??Pmsl, it's as they say do not believe everything you read in the papers, I guarantee not one of these sites can or do stipulate how much you can charge, reason being they do not see any of the jobs so therefore have no idea what's involved, some have a range of "guide prices" that a customer can use for a budget but this is not a given.

My input is always needed on here mateOk but the poster of this thread asked if anyone has used it though so your input is not needed anyway lol
Does each job not have a price for the lead? Is this based on the price of the job ie skim a ceiling, budget £200 price for lead £5, loft conversion budget £35.000 lead £100? I've made figures up but they are charging for a lead based on the budget? I know when it started there was a basic but they got greedy.Pmsl, it's as they say do not believe everything you read in the papers, I guarantee not one of these sites can or do stipulate how much you can charge, reason being they do not see any of the jobs so therefore have no idea what's involved, some have a range of "guide prices" that a customer can use for a budget but this is not a given.
Need to straighten this out.
Rated people and my builder etc are 1 type - leads. You pay as you go for job leads. One of them (rated people) the customer I think puts a budget on there for what they would like to pay.
Which, checkatrade and trustatrader is an annual subscription £500 ish? Quite a bit more of a professional set up. And fully vetted - and in my opinion a different class tradesman.
ANYONE out of college, off a course, on the dole can do the top type. Not saying all are, but I've been called in many a time to sort out a rated or my builder jobbie.
You need to know the difference between them before tarring them ALL with the same brush.

That really straightened it out lol, checkatrade and trusratrader are just a directory service really you pay an annual fee with zero guarantee of any leads, as for vetting it's exactly the same. Rated people are a joke in terms of cost now, mybuilder trusratrader and checkatrade customers all pick the tradesmen themselves they want to quote on the work so absolutely zero difference
Guarantee for leads?
That's my point.
More than directories though. When do yellow pages and Thompson local phone up your customers and get trading standards to check you out? And make sure your legit wit £5m or £10m cover?
What's your point ???
Mybuilder does check references and yes you need liability insurance which is checked and displayed on your page.
Anyone can have liability insurance it costs pennies are you saying just because you have this you are legit ???
My builder don't vet.
Any kid and wonky john gets on.
Trust me I've been over their work.
Plus I've heard nothing but complaints about s#it leads.
