hi (from troweladdicts better half)

just wondering if you could offer any advice re the following....

we live in a block of flats. some flat owners have problems with black mould/damp patches on the inside of some of their external walls. they open windows daily but still have the problem so guessing that this isn't caused by lack of ventillation/condensation.

what do you recommend to solve the problem? someone suggested painting the external walls with some solution to waterproof the wall. someone else has suggested injecting damp proofing material into the wall cavities - any advice would be appreciated!!!!!

Hiya,

My girlfriends flat got this and got a surveyer out.

Central heating can cure it

losing some of the clutter (no offence intended)

Better air circulation keeping a window open

or a de humidifyer.

I think thats all I can remember

sounds like it is condensation, opening the windows now and again wont solve it. permanent vents will, until youve tried this your wasting your time on anything else and to be honest the other solutions are a waste of time because the problem still exists, also maybe look into cavity wall insulation.

permanant vents are the way 2 cure it also if walls are brick a coat of weather seal might stop water penertrating cavity causin damp spots
