hi i,m after a new hop up,apparantly my milk crates are no longer safe:-0. so can anyone recommend a well priced hop up, thanks

Wickes approx 30 squid.fold down when not in use, safety catches to prevent legs closing when open( that's an idea for the missus)

Plastic hop up from Macro, last few I bought were £10. I think they're made by a company called Rubber Maid (sounds like something Spunky would be into). Best hop ups I've found to date.

get a beer crate beg steal or pinch, but get a beer crate as a hop up, the one i have now i rescued from a skip stronger than a flimsy milk crate, go now thescudd, leave your home this instance and search the streets for one go now go before its to late

Crates are the best, we used to say the building trade would be fkd without milk and beer:RpS_thumbup:

I DO have a 'hop-up' which is sh1te :-( and a couple of them rubbermaid step-stools which are mint (got mine from Halfords of all places):RpS_thumbsup:

i agree about the crate being the best but i,m off to a job in birmingham next week and everything has to be above board so no crates or beer kegs, think i will take a look at the youngmans one, thanks for the help

I been using same beer crates for 14 years. In between I tried hop ups which are shite! Although a bit low I screw 2 together and there ideal for average height ceiling.

That's a different type of rubbermaid hop up to the ones I've got mate, mine fold up.
On the subject of crates, the old l*m*-g***n RWhites crates take some beating, but are far less fun emptying than the beer crates.

Screw a piece of ply to the top of you beer crate stops you foot going through.

That's what i did to mine years ago, but was a chipboard floor off cut :RpS_thumbup:

I remember them strong as feck!

Kimberly ales beer crates for me. Never found anything to match em in all my time. Although screwing and separating them over the years has caused a few cracks. I'd pay top dollar for a fresh set as they would see me through till I retire

A small filipino boy on all 4's also make a handy hop up and a plus is that it will move itself about and make the tea.:RpS_thumbup:

i now use an aluminium fold out thing, it's good but same as i always used beer crates wired together .........bloody H&S crap!

Keep an eye on eBay every know and then you get the massive Refina ones come up cheap second hand

apparently alot of these wickes and b+q hop ups wont be allowed on site soon the youngman 600 might be getting banned aswell job i was on last year they put a scafftag on me youngman one

Ive got 2 1.5m refina hop ups for ceilings and a small wickes jobby for walls. Used to use crates (r whites l*m*-g***n) for walls but got out of the habit thanks to elf n safetee. When i started with my old gaffer we had 4 r whites crates but they slowly got lost or stolen. Saw one on a skip a few months back and when i went back next day to take it someone had swiped it.

Beddy were you the secret lemonade drinker?:RpS_w00t:

I remember my mate sneaking a few swigs out of the gaffers limeade bottle.

"You been nicking my pop?"

"No, it wasn't me"
This went on all day and nobody let on that he had green lips all day long :RpS_laugh:

So exactly what will be allowed Gary?

i use wiseman milk crates ive got a single one and 2 that i screwed together, tough as fook too, easier to kick around that keep picking the hopup up (i do have 2 hopups though a long one and a short one)

Here are a couple of links to the refina step up range. There are a variety of heights and widths so you might find something you were looking for
