Fixing a small section

Hi there,

In the image below, please look at the massive gap.

How might I rebuild this little bit? Can you suggest a straightforward method?

Not sure what you're trying to achieve

Is there a window board going back in?

Or are you looking for a squared up finish?

The objective is to fit a new window board.

I am a DIY novice, and I am looking for a reasonable and durable solution. Probably not a 'perfect' solution. But something that should seal the gap and create an OK aesthetic.

I am fitting a window board.

When I look on YouTube, mostly the videos feature a squared-up finish and they seamlessly fit the board in.

As you see in mine, the finish is rough and uneven.

Should I be aiming to square this up? If so, how?

I'd get the board in first myself and then plaster/full in around it mate.

It'll be much easier for you too.

Why don't you just do it for them.... for f**k all, obviously mate....... might as well by the sounds of things ....
Maybe just me though ...............

Thanks. I think youre right. It will be easier to visualise how it will work if I cut the piece and get it in place.

Just purchased some MDF to practise cutting to shape on rather than ruining something pricier.

Nope,...... why would you teach the usless to emulate you, in the vain hope that they will, one day, replace you,
Makes no sense to me.

I think it matters. We all need a helping hand at times. I’m carrying the weight of the world at the moment when in reality it’s really not the case but I’ve seeked a bit of advice tonight from someone I don”t particularly know well and it’s helped a lot. It hasn’t solved the problem but makes it easier to move forward with a slightly different angle on things.

Going to lose the foam master title?
Only kidding hope you get through in good shape
