Filling following day? :/

Hi all, I skimmed a few walls today in dimming light and it wasn't until I was able to get hold of a lamp I could see quite a few biggish holes and slight proud areas after the mix had started to go off.

Can I just go straight in with filler tomorrow or do I have to now wait for the wall to fully dry?

miss coat then fill and sand as you please or get a decent light PVA and skim again , but prevention is better than cure mate
