Disaster

Hi, I'm not a plasterer but have done a fair bit over the years (including an entire house), was doing a small kitchen for my friend and the plaster has had a complete meltdown. It looked good when I left it but upon returning the plaster has cracked and I mean cracked everywhere, every bit of plaster I put on has shattered into a million hairline cracks and it is so bad on the ceiling that it is falling off the plasterboard. It was a warm day and I used extra time for the first time, other than that no different to other plastering I've done. I'd already plastered half of it and the first day's plastering looks fine. I'm at an absolute loss as to what has gone wrong and how to fix it. Any help will be much appreciated.

Cheers Danny, I did my first mix in similar hot conditions and struggled with time. The only difference between that mix and this one was the extra time additive. Both were a full bag with half a bag on the second coat.

Hi bobski, yeah I think that's most likely, the windows were fitted between the two coats so with a bit of greenhouse effect the temperature may have been a fair bit higher, combined with a warm breeze. I think timing wise I wasn't any slower.

Any ideas how to fix it?

Cheers
