Need a bit of advice please regarding our old cottage which has a (very) long standing rising damp issue on the gable end. Wall is double stone with rubble filled cavity. Over the past 15 years the wall has been drilled and injected twice then plaster removed floor to ceiling back to stone then replastered with renovation plaster. No improvement. Finally decision made to membrane on top of existing plaster (floor to ceiling) then dot and dab plasterboard on to membrane then skimmed. Issue now is that it is over 5 weeks since the work was done and it looks fine except that almost every dot/dab can still quite clearly be seen. The outside doors have been open during the recent warm weather and a dehumidifier has been on every evening for at least the last 3 weeks. I am obviously wary having seen the horror stories on the net about painting too soon, but should it take so long to dry?
