another question for you pros

whats the reason for cross troweling last rub? when plaster is almost sett

what would happen if cross troweled earlier, like allong the wall rather than up and down when troweling up?

cheers chris

ha why not trowel up along wall then if its easyer? rather than up and down.
thought there was a specific reason to twowel same way as layed on. untill last rub. seems not!?

In the old days you would 3 coat your work... and the second coat would go on with a wooden/plastic float and you would lay your second coat accross your first one the then 3rd coat would go back the same way at the 1st.... that apparently gets it flatter....

With cross trowelling I always do it because it looks better.. not sure if the finish is any different as I never have not done it....

Mind you if you look around the net many so called plasterers think shining the s**t out of a wall is good... I am a matt and flat (ish) kinder guy...
