here is a tip about thin coat angle beads

run the back of a claw hammer straight down the bead say...after bonding, takes
out both sides of the bead nice leaving your perfect line for the skim
instead of scraping it continously, being uneven and so on........

anyway, im not talking after an hour after u done your bonding,
im talking about ,
say you did all your floating out for skimming the following day,
the bonding would now be hard....run the back of the hammer
down the bead, works a treat...try it

f++kinh hell lads, you senior boys dont miss nothing..
thats actually a good point...why would i be floating
with thincoat beads? but i wouldn't be, i would use angle
beads.... but 10/10 for observation...well spotted !! ;)

You just made that up didn't you mate??
Come on tell us the truth ;D

I'd use the front off the claw hammer on your beads if I cought you doing this. On a serious not, how have you got to the end of your c and g using skim beads for undercoating?

it couldve been a tight coat of bonding and youd have to make up a whole new term to float it ??? you can put thin coat beads on backing coats anyway aslong as the walls plumb you bunch of caaaaaaaaaants

but then youd be sticking it on after youve floated it wouldnt you...
you cheese eating sock wearing sperm dribbling c'ntarsinf'ckb'stard!
::)

lol

na they didnt teach me that in C&G, before I started the course, i
was labouring for a plasterer, na serious i didnt make that up...

i think he used to give the plasterboard a tight bonding, using thincoats,
I mean somebody elses plasterboarding that he would have to fix,

When i was on my course, we were floating plasterboards, just very tight coat
with thin coats on the reveals and window... i ran the hammer down the back
of the beads, it was perfect...serious

i was watching other people taking 10 mins trying to clean then..

what i mean when u run the back of the hammer down the beads, that feathers
a line down both sides evenly, so u can skim it later.

my teachers seen me do it and asked me not to do it as they dont teach it

but did say was a good idea

When you're at college you do it their way, when you're on your own you'll find your own method. That's why when people ask advice everyone gives a dif answer

Just work away from the bead so that the bead doesn't get covered and you don't get a build up so that there's room for the skim. If you do get any on the bead just wipe it off when possible.

I like your tip though, but like NRM says you might scratch them too much.

Oh my god is this what it has come down to,,,, after you rub up the floating clean off the beads with a sash brush for **** sake it's common sense

Top tip and works well.

Missus went into labour and had to bail out on a job half way through and didn't clean the beads off, when i got back to it i remembered this tip and it worked a treat.

Thank You

your welcome...just remember that was my one...

now you see all it does work...ok might not be a good idea on the day, but at least if your misses goes into labour halfway through floating you can come back and use the claw hammer!!! love it
