doesnt always follow having a new motor getting better fuel economy, ive got a new transit and i only get around 30 to the gallon with it.

My old transit does o4 plate does hi 30`s, its the smaller van better fuel verses bigger van higher running costs.

I crashed the van a few months ago and have been using a Citroën xantia since. Most of the time I'm working on site so materials are either provided or I have them delivered. Do miss having a van for a few things but won't be getting a new one till about July

give me a shout mate when you do, ive got a loverly mid size van you can buy, just to take the edge off it like... :RpS_wink:

i got a 07 plate transit drinks fuel like theres no tommrrow
used to have a escort with roof rack used to get 9 big sheets of plasterboard on it and every thing stacked in side well over wiegth but done the job
then got the transit were bulk head sits forward to get the boards in but av to leave loadsa space for em
plus the bigger the van the more junk you seem to carry about

aint that the truth, the bigger the van the more you seem to fill it.
one of my biggest over heads is fuel,i get around 25 to the gallon when im towing the machine and even pink diesel is going up
so i get clobbered when filling the vans then when i fill the machine.plus road tax has gone up.
in ten years time driving will be a luxuary

I work out of an estate car i have a 07 plate focus which ive had from new and totally f**ked it up with dust, i did have a van but where i live there aint much parking so 2 cars upset the neighbours but i am gonna sell it next year when its paid off and get a van with seats in the back (for the kids) thinking of a vw transporter as for materials i will only put a couple of bags in at a time but majority of our work we are getting pallets of gear so its all delivered also the bloke i work with had a astra van which went in for a service came out f**ked so had to get rid of it and ended up with a volvo estate which he tells me every day he cant wait to get rid of it as he keeps having the piss taking out of him.

I also know of a bloke who done a short plastering course bought a new van had it sign written and now hes a spread and only been doing it 2 mins where ive been at it over 20 years and he looks more professional than me lol dont judge a book by its cover.

:RpS_biggrin:

what you do is...

see that little metal bulkhead? well in the astra its 4 bolts.... take it off, lift it up 1 bolt hole, then it sits about 6" higher and you can run the beads through the middle, the boards will run up to the back of the seats... plus you can screw a little bit of ply to it to 'block off' the back from the front... :RpS_wink:

Ok dude, but I think Id be better off with me Vivaro :D much better lol

i'm using a kangoo at the mo. had a vivaro but the fvkking gear box kept going was only 3 yrs old worst van i ever had . Gonna have to put up with the kangoo for about a year until i've saved enough cash for a transit or sprinter ..Although its not that bad iv'e put a false floor in for my board and stand box's of screws wisk and power tools. Got a roof rack that takes 8x4 's and a pipe rack for my beads .Plus the diesel is great £30 a week .

kinell....
ive gotta drive to preston tomorrow from peterborough...
gonna be 60 - 75 quid round trip i reckon...

part of kyoto agreement i reckon...

did you know that india, greece and ireland are actually allowed to INCREASE their carbon emissions?

and the USA is the notable exception to the signed up countries that HAVENT adhered to the agreement?

I've got a 4 mile round trip been there all week and will be there all next . Then the week after that i'm even closer for about 3 weeks.. The 4 mile trip includes a little detour for my mcdonalds coffee in the morning aswell...:RpS_biggrin:

sometimes there isnt a choice-vans in for fixing so gota use car-breakks my heart getting plaster on the leather but luckily it wipes off

over the years ive tried all sorts of vehicles for work......

estate car ,4x4 ,sm van ,med van ,big van ,

trouble is when you have kids (and have 2) you need a car ,but thats no good for work
so you end up with both

tried using an estate car for work and home but it doesn't really work ,you end up with dusty dashboard, plaster dust over seats ,however careful you are ,although i did manage for a while..

now have car and van

if i go to price up on the weekend i use the car but i refuse to allow any plaster in the car or even use it when the van is in for repair...
its the fiat in my avitar and the boot is too small anyway

Always had vans , could not be bothered trying to get everything in a car , bought a new transit this year so far so good :RpS_thumbup:

got a car and a van zafira and a trasit, wannna get rid of the zafira though the 2 vehicles is killing me but again i have 2 girls now so i need a clean car

haha nope, gets everything he needs in and when he needs cement mixer just nicks a van from a family member who is a chippy :)

s**t hot spread though quick and always a good finish, one of a few spreads I have worked with who actually takes pride in his work :)
