Hardly uncommon though. I recently renovated a flat where the original builder told the landlady that it didn't need skimming, just wallpaper right over the boards. What's the fire rating for wallpaper over a 10mm gap?
What qualifications are required to be a builder then... no law says you must be formally qualified... this guy is just a robber... makes no difference if hes qualified or not
I have a fair few, but none of them say 'builder' because there's no such qualification. It's going to be a big problem in years to come, because like the individual trades there are next to no apprentices working with experienced builders in small firms. There are few enough old school 'general builders' who were trained/experienced as such at my age/generation. So younger lads (if there are any that are interested) that are going to get the opportunity to learn.
That said, there are no qualifications required to be a dodgy c**t either, yet he seems to have that down pat.
