I heard asbestosis was a hoax
Lol
Could you not mf it underneath mate got the room cheap as fuk mfGot a little job with a bowed artex ceiling. Leaked in so it has to come down. Customer isn’t sure on date it was done but the house was built in the 70’s.
Has anyone had an asbestos test done? Is it expensive and was it a ballache or quick and easy?
Salutations
Me
I’ve got an apprentice working with me. He’s 19. It’s better to do it right. I know it’s low risk but the customer is aware of it too.just rip it down! How old are you? Probably too old now for asbestos to do damage..takes decades for it to kick in,covid will get you before asbestos
It’s bowing down a lot mate. Would leave the ceiling really low.Could you not mf it underneath mate got the room cheap as fuk mf
Didn’t realise that. Was going to do the test then remove myself with all the PPE etc.on insurance work you must have an asbestos test on Artex type of ceilings. the test is done by post and is not expensive. but if asbestos is found then it has to be removed by an asbestos contractor.

Suppose this is how these companies make money. Scare the f**k out of the customer with horror stories then add a few 000’s to the cost.
Know way can any1 get rid of asbestos without a licence, every tom dick and Harry would be on it,gypos,Romanians the lot, needs to be removed then disposed of properly imagine gypos just fly tipping it everywhere with there tarmacDidn’t realise that. Sad to hear, was they asbestos in the old brown gutter pipes then? Its a scandal really that they thought was harmless as it used to be everywhere from brake pads etc£120 for the last test we had on an external panel. white asbestos isn’t as bad as blue or brown but one fibre can
Still be critical it can sit dorment for years in your lungs.
I used to treat asbestos as a bit of a faff and an over reaction, fuss about nothing sort of thing ...until my dad got diagnosed with asbestosis at 61, hes now 64 and it’s got worse and worse he’s on a death run and it will kill him in the next 2-4 years, it’s heartbreaking. he used to rip old downpipes etc down on the externals. My advice to any fella, do it by the book and never scrape any ceilings down, it was everywhere until the late 80s early 90s.
Sorry to hear that rich. Make the most of your time mate.£120 for the last test we had on an external panel. white asbestos isn’t as bad as blue or brown but one fibre can

It’s truly awful, one day your fit, months down the line you get short of breath etc a year you can’t even walk up stairs, it’s pretty much incurable. My uncle died 2 years ago of asbestos in the lungs, my mom was diagnosed 3 years ago with asbestos has had several operations he was a itspecialist my mum a hairdresser the only thing they could think of when they was kids they used to play on an old tip at the back of their estate where they have torn down a load of prefabs.
Not doom mongering at all, nothing like hectorDoom mongering I’m turning into hector... I guess my point being treat asbestos with respect.
