Have 180m2 ceiling over a school swimming pool to do. The contractor specified aquapanel cement boards and knauf have supplied there tape, to be applied with joint filler then there primer then this interior skim that comes already knocked up in bags. Anyone used this before what's it like? It says put a coat on 1-1.5mm leave 12-24 hours apply another coat then leave to dry and sand. Sounds like joint cement to me. They want the ceiling fully skimmed so tape and jointing wasn't a option.

Thanks.

Sounds an interesting job, never used the gear before but I'm guessing someone on here has. Get some pics up if you can :RpS_thumbsup:

yeah i think ive used that stuff , white stuff and wasnt very nice to use , very messy as i remember and took forever to go off , cant remember what happened but i didnt use it again , and i think the contractor got someone in who sprayed it on , sorry buts thats all i know about it . I didnt have a lot of info about it at the time and tried to use it like multi , but id say your method sounds better suited .

Hi Scott

Drop me an E mail and I will send you all the data sheets and installation details

You might want to give @Curry a call - this is a product he specialises in! (and he is based in Kent - Gilliangham area I think)

If you want to talk to someone, give Knauf a call on 01795424499 and ask for a technical instructor or Clive...

Good Luck!

as RWS says, I.d stick to the data and do it that way... yeh, sounds like German joint cement though,, get a vac sander mate..

@scott.beaumont

You really need to put it through a airless mate. Doing it by hand is a mission. Its a excellent method if done properly.

If you want us to take a look just let me know.

I have used the tape and jointing compound before last summer was the last time when we had that bit of a heat wave and the jointing compound took a good while to go off. Sure it was a good 24 hrs before it had all set the tape is, for want of a better word stretchy and scissors are your best bet for cutting it.

Hi Raggles

Your comments have been made before, and (for this application) the tape has recently been changed to a slightly different type (now a blue colour).

The Joint Filler will dry onto the face of the board quickly, but the filler inbetween the boards do take a while to fully dry...

Thanks for the honest feedback!

...and this is what is so GREAT about this forum!

I am not having a pop at you at all..... respecting you honest comments, and advising that we have made a change having heard about the tape before...

Cheers

Think they would of thought about that before we started.

How can they instruct you to do an internal ceiling when the roof is not water tight..... FFS

Hope they are agreeing to pay you for all your work so far and will get you to redo the work....

If you need any assistance from Knauf (site report on work, advise on remedial works) - get in touch and we will help!

Hi
