Hi, my van is gonna be paid off this October so was wondering what to get next. I always liked pickup trucks, wondering if anyone uses one to do plastering? If so how you getting on? Cheers

Why not enjoy the extra money you’ll have?
They’re not practical for our line if work. I know a couple of people that tried and went back to a van. I’d have one if I could, but I can’t, so I won’t.

That's what I thought, I mean you can get stuff delivered to site or job now days but the whole planning ahead would do me tits in over time I think. Looks like van it is
Proper hate waiting for deliveries, much rather go and pick everything up.

I always have a pickup truck. I am on my 4th Mazda B2500, single cab. I find them quicker to load and unload then vans and I have plenty of them the best being Toyota Hiace. I keep my tools and bagged materials under the tarp. Then with 3 scaffolding boards cut down as bearers I can get 13 sheets of 2400 x 1200 sheets of plasterboard on the butt. 3m cove and 3m beads fit across the butt on the angle. The truck will take a ton and a quarter in weight. I do live in a very low crime area .

Got a works one, double cab and you can hardly get anything in the back. Had a single cab to start with and they have a big load space, no idea of length. Biggest issue is, if you’ve got a hard-top on the back you’ll be on your hands and knees crawling about. Only thing they were fit for is putting against your tax bill but you can only do that now with single cabs.

Mrs mate pays £460 a month for a motor she will never own .+a deposit not sure of that amount

I do different kind of finance, where I own my van at the end. Like this one, £200 a month. Tax deductible. I'm not silly and don't want anything flashy, just a steady work horse bud.

Shall I give it to the tax man instead then? I rather have decent van, that I know it'll last me with only basic maintenance and start up every morning mate. Claim all the finance against the tax
Dont pay income tax, put the money into a pension for your self.

Yeah I get that, each to their own. We’re in very unpredictable times and things will get very tight. I’d rather have the money personally but everyone is different. .
