Easy job dot face on cut to shape, day 2 dot sides on cut to shape day 3 skim hard angle £850 cash!
 
If they want to keep the shape could you use long fixings and washers over flat strap to stop them sinking into the board you would still need to bond over the top or just talk them into squaring it up lol

I.ll just dot it. Doesn't have to be exact shape
 
I’d dab the sides first in bits and pieces then oversize the face board and pin it then cut it back cut the insulation back to the existing so the p/b joint is flush and then get a bit of bonding out to tart it up

That was universal one coat, make sure there's no sing of salts as it'll show through
