Advice regarding metal studs prior to plasterboard.

Hi all,

I have removed the tiles and plasterboard from a wall in my bathroom and am intending to replace this after moving the radiator slightly.
After removing the wall, I have reached a dilemma.

I haven’t got two end studs to secure the plasterboard as they are in inaccessible locations. Therefore I am thinking of adding a stud at the end of each wall and maybe a couple in the middle for added support.(I have included a couple of photos below to show you what I mean)

the only problem I am finding is locating the correct metal stud, the depth of these studs seem to be 45mm. I have attached a couple of close ups of the stud work, would anyone have an idea where to pick these up or any other solutions?

Thank you in advance

Darren

You read my mind.

And while you're about it, Darren, consider putting a bit of Rockwool in the cavity, to dampen sound transfer between rooms. Not compulsory, but no one likes hearing noise from another room.
Yes I will be insulating the wall, just trying to get around this issue first as removing the wall behind is not an option

Just fudge some wood in, screw, glue to pick up boards or screw some 18mm osb over the lot before PB.

Yeah I probably am just over thinking it. I will go with the 2x2. Do you think i should a couple of timber studs in the middle also. The current metal studs are at 900 widths. I was going to reduce this to 450 as going to be tiled.

get rid of the metal
hire a gas gun

pin the timbers in

and away you go

put ear protectors in
