When you got home the grass needed cutting anyway, and then a bit of weeding. Don't sell yourself and your family short you daft tunc, you being knackered all your life for **** all don't help the family, but it's your choice.

i was round a fellas house in high wycomb last week for something non plaster related, and he asked me what i did, and i said. and he goes oh, how much would u have charged to skim this room. i said and he looked at me as if i were mental, and then told me he was getting a room stripped of paper and skimmed all in for 200. he did most of the house.

I do stick together mate but most people on here are to scared to do so just to worried about bringing a few quid home to feed the family, that aint whats life about, ile tell you something though as you read this hundreds of kids in Africa are dying because they have no food yet we send millions of pounds worth of aid to corrutpt African countries and it dont go to who needs it.

If feeding your family aint what lifes about then what is? Thats the most dumbass comment ive ever read on here!!!!!!

its easy to say what you should do especially if you have work coming in,when thats dried up and you need to pay bills and put food on the table for the family i can tell you from 1st hand experience you sharp change your tune or sink.

give it 1 coat mate just make it the same consistancy but a slightly thicker coat, a nice tidy coat though si then fall back and trowel straight away, see how it goes, a couple of wet rubs should be fine mind their only paying you penuts, if it doesnt look up to scratch then its gota be two, one coating isnt advisable but can be done by some. :RpS_cool:

Your right i didnt get your point from what you wrote, i personally am bringing up 2 children and will do whatever it takes to put food on the table so your comment struck a chord. I know the prices are shite but the truth is we dont have a chioce, the private jobs have gone to pot because too many people are undercutting each other and the site work is the worst money i have ever seen in 17 years.
I still think your a tosser though :RpS_biggrin:

Nice one scotsplasterer,Im working on my own havent got a labourer so one coating it is what i have done.I have never done 1 coat before, however it has worked out quite good for me. I managed to get 8 bags of board finish on yesterday but didnt get home till 7pm ish(quick pint). I know this isnt the best way of skimming, and my nvq tutor would have gone ballistic, but it works and i can at least get something like a decent wage.Lads thanks for your input as always.I will be floating about the forum so will speak to you soon.cheers si

I know its not the real way si, but as long as you get back on it to trowel it before it takes up you can get away with it on plasterboard. As you are a real plasterer like myself you know how to use a hawk and trowel, any monkey can throw plaster on a wall, its what you do with it once its on the wall that counts. :RpS_thumbup:
