George if you want a weeks work in Bristol get in tough with me. Not top money of course just a bit more experience I applaud your enthusiasm. Good lad
Dont know about the quail eggs :RpS_lol: You sound a bit weird. Or the chips. But I could eat the rest of what you have mentioned and bananas are a good food to stave off the hunger and eating bad food
Just been reading some of the replies on here and I think some people need to live and let live. So I thought a lifgter thread lol. Whats your favorite snack in the da? Mine is probably nuts I ususally have a bag with me to nibble through the day. Cashews. Main meals I would say pasta dishes or...
I agree some posts make me bewildered but I just laugh. If I can I will help but I haven't been on for long. I just don't see the point of being a member to just go on about how good you are and how the old days were the best days etc. No offence to you. You could even be a "courser" ! Where is...
I don't want to make enemys. You just seem highly strung and should really apologise. The lad has explained that he has been working fro nine years etc. Guilty as charged I am still learning and have been in the game longer than you mate. If you dont want to share tips and information n why not...
I have worked with scourers in the past and to be fair they left a superb finish. Not powdery because they did not trowel the fat. It takes a bit of practice to get right like most things
Hi Adcar I have seen you about as well. Small world it is. Are you changing the van or your name? Yes I do a bit or rendering mate I don't think you should be calling yourself a plasterer if you don't do sand and cement. I have just finished a mono job down in hotwells last week.
Haha it's funny I drive round town and see others in the game all the time and I only know a handful to speak to and already on here I have seen a few from Bristol already. Where do you get your stuff from mate I might have even stood next to you at counter
Cranny I meant that you are still learning like we all aer. I didn't mean anything offenesive. I meant with that timeserved idiot slagging you off the other day
Things are going well here in Bristol. I am not still not up to rates of pre 2008 but I am getting to there. Is tehre anyone else on here from Bristol? I have work spare sometimes and can paass it on but you need to be **** hot as I don't want my reputation to suffer ultimately the customer...
That is true. It can be a pain trying to get the whip out of a warped board. It is time consuming. I've wedged the deadman aginst them in the past with a scaf board nailed across just trying to get them in aligment. And then the bottom f the board springs. :-)That non expanding adhesive, the one...
I have two coated since leaving school but I have tried the sponge and it works well fro me also. The secret is in the timing just like all of plastering. Some people are close minded and need to welcome new methods of work. I will use it mostly with knauf plasters which trowel up lovely. I have...
Well done Cranny. Its is good to see when someone does well and especially when they want to share the joy. You will also get moaners like TimeServedSpread. Ignore them keep your head down and keep going. I find your approach more admirable than someone who wlaked into the game from school and...
Don't let tothers bring you down mate. I agree to a degrree. It's what we contribute, whi we become that gives meaning to our lives. Some people need desperation rather than inspiration. :RpS_blink:
I mostly start at the pedant. The light fitting will most times have a joist to the side or directly above it. Then it should be 400 -600 centres but it can vary very wide depending on how old the house is. Once i have the first joist I will measue from the centre. If I cannot find the next I...
There's big money in it mate thats for sure. But also big comebacks so be prepared. Are you prepared to go back somewhere in ten years time and put right a job for nothing and pay for the material and labour? It will happen. If you don't go baack they start threatening court action and slagging...
Thanks Zombie. I haven't been onlong so don't know your history mate but all the best to you whatever you choose to do. When you think aobut the thousnds of different jobs and trades out there and when you listen to what , friends, ex-friends, relatives, strangers are doing or have done its...
Be careful with plumbing course. You need to work for a copany afterward to fully qualified and most cannot get a placement. Plastering is not like this it is is unregulated and any one can just start out on there own after doing a few day couse. Madness. I did apprenticeship in the eighties...
Hi Zombie. Why have you limited it to the building game? Why not become a Life Coach or a Personel Trainer? Just a thought. I have qualifications form a few years back in NLP so I can be a Life Coach if I wanted. I had similar ides to you at the time but I have never used them and I would need...
Thanks mates. Leebo I just don't know what Artex sealer is. It is embarrassing maybe but that is true. I was wondering if it would seal unpainted artex that is already on. Normally I would go down the stabiliser avenue as has been mentioned and wondered if it would be the same. I might board it...
It is a rdidculous price hairybear. I don't find that custiomers will always chase the best price. A lot will know follow the peanuts and monkeys saying if you know what I mean. I have had customers throw back a cheaper price at me but will smile in a knowing way "really!" :RpS_wink: If I was...
Hello mates. My name is Al and Im from Bristol. I am a plasterer and decorator and do alright but prices are not great here at the moment. I have a artex ceiling to skim that is quite powderery when you touch it. What is artex sealer? Will this seal the powdery artex so that I can the skim over...
