steve 1976 yes mate you can use a steel trowel to finnish but a bit different,next time you got a bit of s&c up try this but be warned if the works not straight itll look s**t,scratch ,float and fine down as per,sponge if you like,let it tighten up some more,then get your perma shape out prolly...

its all a matter of opinion o,there are top spreads about and to them a bit of filler or a bit of caulk is an insult,i aint the best plasterer in the world,but i aint the worst cant see any probs with a bit of touching up especialy if you do it before your pulled,but then again i am the greatest...

on a side note when i was a kid the old spreads said a coat of bonding was needed on plasterboard as two coats of scim wouldnt straighten any thing so we are all a bit rough nowadays.

i suppose a perfect job can be done,but the question is price,every thing done to a spec before and after the spread,no twist in the studs,no drops in the joists,no bows in the blockwork,ive never seen that,has anyone?domestics even worse imo,yes you try an make the best job you can,but blasting...

i only render,these days its mostly tight coat systems ,less than thirty bags a house,but i did some machine spec stuff early this year but without a machine,140-160 bags a number nearly feckin killed me!

;) machines have there place o,but its not in the domestic market mate,nor in traditional,but there alrighton big mono jobs an jobs speced for machine gear,dont worry your as safe as houses

havnt used a spot in years outside,then again dont use a lab to fill it,probley why.
