Could anybody tell me if they have used an alternative to Krends accelerator on FT White..
I can't get hold of Wickes accelerator as I live on the Isle of Wight and worried about colour change.
Any help appreciated [emoji106]
@Rigsby
Cheers for all the info. Lots to think about. I have a swb Vivaro so can only fit so much in it. Just trying to do my home work before spending out on something. Also thanks for the offer of jumping on one of your jobs. I'm on the Isle of Wight so a fair drive for me.
@Rend tech Ltd
I'd really appreciate that. I'll have a look in the diary and can hopefully sort a date that's convenient for you. I'll just get the ferry over and can drive to where ever needed.
Sorry to Hi Jack your Thread Rend Tech. I'm just a complete Newby when it comes to using a machine. I should probably start a new thread. I just wouldn't know where to start. I could almost do with doing a few days on someone's job for an insight to what's involved. Problem is finding someone...
I do mainly internal work and the odd bit of rendering. Having a machine, would make me concentrate more on the external stuff plus I have my own house I could start on.
Just wondering if this would be a good first machine for me? I was thinking a ritmo. Is the mono mix complicated to use for someone just starting out? I'm probably looking at £4000 to get going on this machine. Which does look a great buy for someone.
Yeah they're a good bit of kit. First time I used one was at college 13 years ago! Would be good if they started making them again. Although with all the spraying machines, might not do so well nowadays.
@Rend tech Ltd. What area are you mate? What other bits do I need to run it? Might be just what I'm looking for. But have no machine experience. Is this somthing @onestopplasteringshop could service for me and give me training?
Thanks for the info @PFTwales. Sounds like a very handy bit of kit. I mainly do internal works and a rendering job every now and again. All domestic work. Work on my own most the time so I can see this being a great help. I can't help keep looking at the Ritmo though. Looks like a great bit of...
Alright lads, do any of you use a tub mixer when rendering pre bagged renders? Been looking at the Belle tub mixer 50. I'm guessing that means 50ltr which is quite small. Any other mixers out there which won't break the bank?
I'm thinking about driving up from the Isle of Wight Saturday. I'm pretty sure there is only one machine on the Island and would be good to see what its all about. Plus wouldn't mind taking a look in the shop and what materials you have. Find it hard to get hold of the bagged renders. I've only...
Had a parcel turn up yesterday and couldn't remember ordering anything this week, we'll apart from some bits from P1ss :D
Just want to say a big thanks, will enjoy many a pint from this ;)
and the key rings will be put to good use.
@carys.
Just the way the job played out and was more productive to do the prep, cavity closures and rendering. Then wanted to skim the render next day so it pulled in nicely. Meant I could scrim the ceiling edge then too. Plus like always, time scales are tight as kitchen is turning up next...
A bit of float and set and skimming plasterboard. Got the ceiling tomorrow which I'm not looking forward to. Curved edges and just over 4.5 metres high. Will be dragging the scaffolding round. :rolleyes:
I saw these the other week. Felt a lot different to your normal marshalltown. Aimed at the DIYer I guess. Would be interesting to hear from someone that's used one!
Ok mate, maybe I'll go a little thicker. Was thinking of using Mapei as never used it and I have my own place to do and the Mapewall GPR looks a good price. Has anyone used it with their thin coat top coat that could give me a heads up on what it's like.
As above. Just looking at different thin coat renders, Krend/ Mapei/ Jub. (Have only used Krend).
What thickness would you apply? (with mesh) To go onto Durox light weight blocks. I was thinking 10mm. Is this right?
I know everyone is different but what's the biggest area people would tackle on there own with the top coat. I know it varies with temperature. I struggle to find anyone decent to work with. (I'm a fussy bugger) I'm sometimes hesitant to take on a job with larger areas. So this is why I was...
It looks easy to control as you use a variable speed drill. I am tempted! Not the cheapest but the finish looks better than hand applied. Although I've only seem videos so hopefully somebody who's seen the finish in person can shed some light
Thinking about getting a spray gun to apply thin coat. Apart from the rendering machines. Just wondering what is out on the market. Also the cost for a spray set up? (compressor etc) Mainly work on my own or with a labourer if needed. Thinking it would make life easier, especially on larger...
Is that a carbon your using?
How fast is the set pulling in mate? Just interested as did a kitchen beginning of the week. Hardly any suction on the walls, waited ages for first coat to pull in and second took ages. Well over 4 hours for the set and ended up putting a fan heater on. Was a ball...
I've found it tears in the later stages, more so with the more flexible trowels. Have to hold them at a harder angle. I've ruled out any draft drying surface too quick as no windows etc have been open. Happens more in colder months and goes greasey if you trowel it too much.
