base coat only needed for high suction or poor substrates..... with mesh as standard in your lovely HOME MADE "F*ck you render company and your bullsh*t rules put in place to make me buy more material even though its my dads house and he couldnt give a toss about guarantees cos ill sort it...

so lets get to the bottom of it, you can or could modify sand/cement to the standard of a parex/k rend/weber etc render system with the addition in X amount of SBR to make it a one coat render, giving that the suction has been slowed either by priming or an sbr/polymer modified base...

so why cant you one coat with the addition of sbr in sand and cement? what makes the pre-bagged stuff any different?????

What is meant by polymer and how does that relate to render..... i.e.. benefits/limitations, i know i could have googled it but i thought i would ask from the lads who REALLY know with years of hands on experience, apologies if this has been covered lads just thought it maybe a good topic for...

rendering is where the money is mate, i assume u can plaster (not necessarily to say a plasterer) i.e take something from a hawk and apply it to a wall/ceiling and can use a darby, can fix beads, understand suction, use a level???? if so............. get yourself on the render part of this...

I would wish all of my sons were plasterers before they did anything else, it has enriched my life incredibly and I'm extremely proud of what I do, I was always a bright kid but never academic, I was good with my hands and thinking on my feet..... Probs why the majority of plasterers are handy...

used it before for the same application (over painted dash) although we primed it first with jub unigrund, just like maite monocomposant to spread so it sticks like sh*t, surely there must be a reason why maite is double the price? IVOR it all depends on how thick the dash...

for the waterproofing/flexibility and adhesion qualities in sbr?, especially up north with gales blowing rain onto the render, just heard not to use lime with waterproofer as they cancel eachother out...................

as additives in s and c by the way...................

kind of............... plenty work shortage of skilled labour, have to get 200 m2 of topcoat render to be completed by the end of week before wor lass chins me, any graft on for next week would be a god send mate if you have out.............

what do you mean by 'life'? workability? and what do you mean by havin to add screed into it?

not sure if this has been covered so forgive me if so, have been using travis perkins plastering sand and was really fine and lovely stuff, got a delivery from jewsons and found it was a lot thicker with a bigger grain which would be great for damp work to get it on nice and thick however not so...

Sounds like a fantastic idea mate as long as people aren't in a rush, which is usually the case as people don't tend to buy things till something's broke
