    Rendering celcon blocks

Evening all, I have asingle story building with celcon blocks that I need to render. I’m thinking my options are either making a brush on slurry of sbr, sand, cement, water, wait to dry then scratch coat as normal. Or would galvanised steel mesh be a better option? or am I well out and...

    PVC cladding replacement

Our house has pvc cladding under the 2 front windows. (Upstairs and downstairs) I had a look underneath and it’s a timber frame with insulation in-between. I am a plasterer but haven’t ever done a job like this before. my idea is to remove pvc cladding, replace insulation for new, board the...

    Old plasterboard

Whenever I skim on plasterboard that’s been erected a long time ago by not yet skimmed....it always pulls in harshly. Is this because the plaster between the paper has gone out of date? Or because the boards have perhaps picked up dust over time. I’ve always assumed it’s out of date but never...

    Sign writing

Getting a new van so will need my sign writing done again. I’m thinking about putting “rooms from £xxx” I haven’t ever seen this before and I’m wondering if this would be frowned upon in our trade. What are your thoughts?

    Slow down £

On this site I see so many people bragging at every opportunity they get about how much they can lay on. Doing this brings the price of plastering down because there is too much expectation on what a plasterer can lay on. It’s an art and not a race, it’s meant to be a way of earning a living.
