An extension on my house has been rendered in the past in sand and cement. The top coat sounds hollow when knocked, so I've chipped some off to see. The bottom coat seems sound.
I'm planning on chipping all of the top coat off and want to re render it in sand/cement.
I don't know what mix...
I'm planning on re skimming a ceiling with multi-finish and would like to try paper tape instead of self adhesive scrim tape to cover the cracks. Having read afew posts on this forum, it seems to be a better way of preventing cracks re appearing, but how do you stick the tape up before skimming...
Thanks for the quick replies. Plasterboard was put in the reveals as well. Is staining a common problem or does it depend on the quality of the angle beads, if there is a difference. I will try painting it after putting a stain block on first.
Hi, First of all, I'm just a diyer, so can someone give me any idea why after I've skimmed a wall with a window in it, the plaster over the skim beads around the recess still look wet. You can still see the shape of the beads in the plaster even though the rest of the wall have completely dried...
