Rendering over old sand/cement render

Hi,
An extension on my house has been rendered in the past in sand and cement. The top coat sounds hollow when knocked, so I've chipped some off to see. The bottom coat seems sound.
I'm planning on chipping all of the top coat off and want to re render it in sand/cement.
I don't know what mix was used on the first coat or if there was any wp added to it so my questions are-
1 Is there an bonding solution I should put on the bottom coat, like PVA or SBR before rendering new top coat.
2 What mix should I use for the new top coat.
3 If I wanted to try K rend , can I use it over the original bottom coat

Please be kind with replies, as I am only a diy er

As long as the scratch coat is sound I'd use Parex Microgobetis as your stabiliser and bonding coat. Otherwise take the lot off and start from scratch.

Use Parex Monorex over the bonding coat if you want a coloured render.

If your going with a Sand and cement and lime top coat id say a 5:1:1 mix should be ok.

Thanks for the reply. If I go for the sand, cement, lime top coat should I still use Parex Microgobetis as a bonding coat before hand
