I've done a lot of rough casting with a lancy. What material are you using? You can buy a texturing gun but didn't find it any good (£250)! We use a 600mm long reach tube with a 45 degree end and 10 mm nozzle. You can stand back from the wall and see what your doing and also move it around...
I've applied pretty much all the scratch render products by pretty much every manufacturer in the last 15 years so I am used to finishing different products and getting used to them but it takes forever to set enough to finish (the average temperature 9 degrees) and the finish isn't all that...
Sprays nice, edges and flats in nice (as long as you don't want it to thick) takes ages to go off and is shite to rub/scratch back. If I had to use k rend I'd rather use com rend or e grade. Does not compare to weber m pral one bit! It's like weber m1 to rub/scratch back. Not looking forward to...
And mesh doesn't always stop cracking. I've had jobs that have cracked and we've done everything by the book and its cracked and we've had to dig out the render and prove that it's meshed and the client still thinks its down to us!
Sounds like you want to put the blame on the spread!! About right!! If its been on there a year before it cracked then its structural. You only need to put expansion beads where there are expansion joints and you bead under cills etc to allow for movement on timber framed builds. Mesh to stress...
What do they think OCR stands for means or is? Ordinary Cement Render!! Goes on any substrate that s/c can. OCR is nice to use and ideal through a machine but if hand applying you can mix sharp and soft sand cement lime and waterproofer/plasticiser 3-2 -1-1 and its better to finish. In my...
I've got approximately 300m2 of k rend hpx to use as a base/ float coat for a thin coat job (architects spec). I've used it as a base/ scratch coat but never floated/finished it. Any suggestions/ methods???? I'd rather first coat + mesh and top the next day to get uniform suction. Any advice...
Line tape up with the corner bead and another on top set back 5mm to stop scratching through tape. Peel off when finished, bang on straight line. ( if your spreads any good!)
