The way I see it is a 2-1 gang would do 6 bag first coat 3 second coat so 60 sqm 2 hits a day 120sqm be away good time if u wanna do more than at a day your either on s**t price or mental and probably the bloke u see on site with knee and arm supports I will stick to my domestics where quality is more than quantity

exactly mate I've done the site meter eating stuff and when I was labouring the f ers were greedy and at 4 quid for skim if you can't make 480 pay between 2 spreads and a labourer that is pure greed I will happily admit that I rarely do over 4 bags a day now and that's pushing it,my days of doing flats and houses are behind me I see 50 year old site spread look about 70 and all got arm supports knee supports ect I don't want that for myself and can't imagine working on a site now each to their own but I won't ruin my health for 2.50/2.75 a mtr then brag about it I'm in this game cos I hated school school hated me but it's all I've ever known for 16 years I earn a living out of it and it pays the bills would I want my boy to do this job,no f-in chance I've done the graft for him

Ive just got the "kinky dice" app. On my phone.

Ive kissed the site labourers neck while he stroked my feet for 2 mins.

I think I like waiting on sets now.

Firstly, if it takes 9 bags to do 60 metres the gear is going on way too thick.
Secondly, having a labourer for skimming doesn't pay.

Those are facts

A bag does 10sqm right so 6 bags is 60 sqm and half of that top coat

But when do you ever 2 coat with same gauge????unheard of unless it's a cupboard

What is your point?

Mine is that the proposed 2&1 if using 9 bags a set should have 90m2 on the wall not 60. If they are able to cope with it.
If they can only cope with 60m2 they are putting too much gear on the wall and should be mixing up a 4 bag and a 2 to lay down.
The stuff doesn't put itself on so they are wasting their time

Does it say 2mm on bags now for thickness? Which is bolloxs know way shud it ever go on 2mm skimming 3-5mm man me

I agree with Pagey, I'd probably use (with a bit of waste) 4bags to do a 30m2 set.

Firstly you've admitted there is waste, secondly your ratio isn't half as extorted as pageys.
If what your skimming is flat it's still too thick though

Why would you ever want to do that?
It would warrant ruling off!!

in this weather ?

ours are getting bigger by the day 260m2 today between two of us all be it a 10 hour day but its hanging like f**k with the humidity etc
hang on,you did it 10 hours?
gauges are about 3 hours

so you did 3 x 85 m gauges between 2?

I bet u get about 15 m2 out of a bag British gypsum gage it differently than wat us spreads wud mix it if you pour the amount of water in wat there tell u 2 and the put a full bag in it will be 2 thick than wat a spread wud have his gear

I do tend to lay it on a bit thicker bud as most of my work is domestic over skims, artex etc/ or if its boarded, the joists are all pissed so need to lay the gear on thick to negotiate it all! If I was house bashing on site I would probably be able to string it out a bit more!

I remember years back reading a 5mm spec on set work , could be me ? I'm old. !

Always push for 10sqm out of a bag on two coat work I was always taught whatever you put on first coat it's half for 2nd coat and give or take a hawk full I would say it's always worked for me 2mm would never happen in pretty positive that when I started it was a 3mm skim and it hasn't changed the way it goes on in 16 years for me I'm over the moon when I see what people have to achieve everyday just to earn a decent bit of dough when for 2 bags I could pretty much equal what they earn I call that getting older and wiser I would come out in cold sweats knowing I would have to do 100sqm a day just to make money my life is about work a chore and a ways of means not the other way round at a push I might even have to put an extra handful in if I've put to much water in but why knock your pipe out life's for enjoying not going home fcuked every night
