No one cares about skill and that true art of plastering takes time these days it’s all about cost and how quick

To be fair, most people round my way don't have any money so suggesting float and set with a run-in cornice is a bit of a non starter.

The plaisterers is really targetted towards those that do fibrous work...

Well that is the impression i have always got when i have been there

Just another part of this trade that got split from it...like boarding and rendering.
Much as it pains me...you're right.
Up north don’t you get prices to board dab and skim down my way on the bigger firms it’s all split up and let’s be honest once you done half a day doing mf it’s a piece of Piss

It's slowly split off but that's the problem the craft is no longer taught in full and that's lack of interest, qualified lecturers, qualification suppliers, money and so on. The lack of house building to a good standard and the quals being given to anyone who has a trowel it will be the down fall and that's across the board on crafts. Apprenticeships need to come back rather than turning out boxes to house people in.

Even at my age of 34 mate I look at buildings from 1800s early 1900 and always think what a top job they did
