f**k**g hell twenty years and twenty three years I wish, 43 years I’ve been in this game from the bucket at sixteen no qualifications probably why I am crap

But how can it go back to the days of solid plastering, who's going to do it? The skillset just isn't there.
On top of that you've got loads of small builders throwing up the D&D themselves.

I never thought of that, you are right on the button there, there isn’t the skill set there any more, these youngsters that have got it all will be worth their weight in gold probably the day after I jack it in, Sod’s law that

One thing about D&D is that I think guys will struggle with longevity.
I think it's easier on the body wacking S&C on the wall than lugging heavy sheets of plasterboard about.
So it's less skillful but not good for the youngsters in the long run.

Wow bored of this now with all the bitching.

If any of you guys wanna know more about airless plastering then join the Facebook group spraying makes sense.

It's used to be a a spray painting group however has evolved to include spray plastering.

Why? Because painting and plastering are finishing trades and marry up well.

Painters are now spray plastering and a few clever plasterers are spray painting. Plasterers need to wake up!

The positive on the situation is that plasterers find it much easier to adapt to spray painting then the other way round.

I don’t know Andy, I know it hurts me lugging boards about but the tackers I know are in their fifties and they throw them around straight up above their heads and there’s nothing of them, then there’s me whose arms hurt just holding them above my head with nothing in them I think if you specialise it’s okay, like floor laying I can just about lay 10 ton now but floor layers in their sixties still do 20 ton

its all about quick production mate.
houses get painted within an hour these days.
tiled/ 2nd fixed/kitchen fitted all in a day !!

all i ever here is "when uuu gunna be dun paaal" ??
 
This is airless overskim in 1950's house. It's not yet painted. The woodwork is sprayed by myself. The finish is better then any decorator by brush

Did you spray that with the big airless or with a small handheld one?

But can teach an old dog new tricks been decent all the questions and seems the chaps had a good weekend and seeing it first hand and if could fit in what they do and make it work would be interested to see what they thought on a big run of it

Yeah that's where we went before to see the useless Knauf Multifinish being applied by even more useless 'expert applicators'.
Hopefully they'll have some proper people on the airless gear.
I won't be holding my breath though.

I am pretty close to retirement now so the outlay probably wouldn’t pay for me to do it, I may go to the Sittingbourne display but just for the day out to be honest and to see what I am up against

I hope it’s not at the bloody Knauf plant is the airless s**t made by them?

It’s always nice to see the new stuff about and people like @Vincey sort of have a passion about moving with times as I’m still young I feel should move a bit more with it but I’ve done things the same way with a few adaptions after taking tips from fellow spreads that I can’t see it being for me,will say though it does look a nice finish and crisp lines and in right hands on right jobs I can see people cleaning up that part of it clever thing is that it’s a big outlay at first that will keep a lot of chancers away from it
