Skim ceiling

I have to skim a kitchen ceiling,the whole house has been freshly painted showing up ridges and trowel marks but the kitchen is really bad.would there be any issues now regarding grease on the ceiling from cooking since its had a fresh coat of paint or would it need to be cleaned anyways?

Well if there not bothered with ridges and trowel marks after painting then see if you can leave them some staining on the kitchen ceiling
