I found one in the garden this morning. They’re actually about 50mm. I just remember them being around the size of a 2” timber.
Got them upstairs in my house, built off a 3x2 sole plate. Hardly any effort made to tooth them into the main walls so they flex a lot.

Wet it down and stick your boards on.
Also, the block walls are about 40mm thick and not usually tied in to the main walls. Make sure they’re not flexing at the ends. A few angle brackets screwed an plugged can help...
