What mixer/tools

Hi all I've done bits of monocouhe render before just bay windows. Whilst doing this I mixed up in a tub with normal paddle mixer and scrapped back with a scratch tool brought of eBay. I was talking with a plasterer today who said he uses a cement mixer to mix up his monocouche and all different size scratchers 6,8,10 mm. Just wondering how ever one else does it and was I mixing it wrong

Im no expert with mono but don't think using a cement mixer is a good idea? I use my paddle mixer, I have2 scratchers heavy and fine
