I've got a small window that has a wooden lintel.
I know most of you guys will say to fix plasterboard to it then skim, but how was it done with S&C render in the old days?
I'm guessing it was by nailing EML onto it then rendering?
if not, was a better way of getting a perfectly level finish?
I was thinking of of a 10mm strip of wood fixed left/right onto the lintel, then trowel the render into the mesh, followed by screeding it between the blocks.

Old boys I used to work with fixed 2 layers of mesh and fixed by bending long galv nails into it to hold and. Key it. Render and screed off with a spirit level. Devil Float n skim.

Always put wood up right to left.
