Hacked off a load of blown render down the back of a house, below chimney down to first floor window. Brickwork was in a bit of a state and quite brittle. In places the render is 10mm max to match the existing. What do i do as i'm using sand and cement but won't be able to get two coats on it all at that depth. Do i just get as tight a scratch coat on as i can, then second coat or is it gonna cause problems being too thin. Could cause problems with the bead as well as it's 10mm at the bottom of the bead but 20mm at the top? Would i have to put the bead on before scratch? How do you deal with variable thicknesses and soft bricks.

You can only work with what you have, if only 1 coat will fit then thats all you can do mate.

mix up some sbr cement and sand. brush on or scudd it (dash). should stop it pulling in to fast and cracking
