Tiling????

Hi guys. About to skim a bathroom ... customer now say hes woried about how much weight there is gonna be on wall with skim and tile/grout ... his tiles are 600x300 ... hes read up that the tiles can fall off !! Anyone heard of this or is he being paranoid ....

Don't skim it if he's worried about weight as plaster board itself will take more weight than plaster if it's stone or marble use harrow backer boards .. I've seen a tiler use pva over skim with stone tiles and they have stayed on .. wouldn't advise that though

As said above, the tear off weight of plaster board is greater than skim on board so in theory your better off not skimming. I always try to talk Peep's out off skimming plaster board or s&c etc if it is going to be tiled.. If your still not convinced go have a look on the tilers forum.

If the tiles are over a certain weight you should use hardy backers instead of plaster boards...
