I am going to bond and skim a damaged wall in my house, should I take off the radiator brackets and put them back on once done or should I bond/skim around them ? I would take them off if I was skimming but as I am bonding too, my concern is the radiator may come out by afew mil and I wont be able to reconnect the rad.

I always took them off when skimming nothing worst than having to work round them...

I was shown a neat trick where you put a matchstick in the screw holes then skim it and just before the plaster has turned you mount the brackets and cut round them then remove and scrape away the plaster back to original :-)

Failing that plumbers get paid plenty let them worry about it :-)

I wouldn't bother meself, just skim round em.

there's something covering them remember.

tried matchsticks, their alright. Got another tip offa here ages ago to fill them with bog paper. roll up some paper into a long plug. You gotta be quick though finding them sometimes when it's starting to dry proper

I tend to skim right up to the screws, brush around them on first trowel, remove them to trowel right over, pop the screws back in to clear the hole and then remove immediately til I'm done.

And OP, unless they're 15mm copper pipes on short legs you should have enough play on them to re-fit no probs :RpS_thumbup:

To o.p.i just measure from one wall to each bracket edge, then up from the floor to the bottom of the bracket.draw it on a bit of paper or adjoining wall.them do the job then refit.

some geezer mentioned using straws a while back so they spring back when you trowel over them
