Ha ha................thought you might have as it seems to be brickies/masons that find it most useful.
 
Dont know why you would need to to be honest with brickwork, stonework etc the only time maybe on large areas of render, suger Mmmmm who told you that? i will experiment with it at the nearest opportunity and let you know.
 
definitely a no-no! Sugar dissolves cement. I used to buy bespoke concrete copings, kerbs etc and a trick they showed me to make a new casting look weathered was just as the concrete was green spray sugary water on to the surface and it dissolve the surface exposing the aggregate. Can't imagine the damage it could do to a cement mix!
