Spray plaster 2 coats one day or second coat next day?

Hi Guys
Is it best to spray plaster the second coat the next day? I Am prep taping and sanding down some lads work but getting a lot of shrinkages as he's spraying one coat then after an hr spraying the next coat. Am I right in saying if he was to let the first coat settle/dry and then apply the next coat there wouldn't be as much shrinkage because of it drying different times? Any help would be appriciated.

Yes it's because he's applying the second coat to quickly
