Im new on here so will say "hi" first :RpS_thumbup:

Right i used to labour for some guys a few years ago, they only ever did new housing complexs so the propertys were already freshly boarded out they just skimmed the walls. But i did learn the art of plastering, now before anybody starts being a keyboard warrior i said i "learned" the art, NOT "mastered" the art of plastering.:RpS_wink: I dont call my self a plasterer and never will but im able to skim my own house if that makes sence.

Now my sister is renervating her house and wants me to to practice on her walls lol. which for family i dont mind.
My question is reguarding Artex. Her kitchen walls have this on, normally i would just reboard the walls but she wants to keep the units and tiles on to save money so boarding aint an option.

Can anybody give me some advice on tackling artex please?

Many thanks

scrape back the old artex... gets some wickes bonding agent roll it on and then skim it the next day :-)

always best to overboard the ceiling though as things can go wrong when skimming over artex.....

Thanks very much for your reply, have been reading over lots of old posts and kinda had this in the back of my mind just wanted it confirming.

Thanks again

Yeah, you could just give it a scrape to knock of the most sticky out bits and then a coat of uni-bond, bonding, then skim it smooth. But just make sure the walls aren't greasy with all the cooking going on in the kitchen over the years or you might be picking it off the floor some day.
