what are you putting on top of the sm700? they do a primer called neotrasit for dodgy substrates, sm700 is an adhesive mind not a render as such.
 
Thanks for the info owls. I've maybe been miss informed I was told I can use sm700 as a base coat and finish all in one and can be sponge finished...ile be going on to sound brick work on an extension. what would you recommend primer for brick work.
It will be hand applied .i want to use a all in one base and finish coat if possible .its my first job with the new render systems .but been rendering 17 years with sand cement. Thanks mt
 
You can but What's your finish your looking at? Sponged...
There cheaper ways and probably better ways of doing it than using 10mm of sm700 at 30 quid a bag with the vat, why not just use there scratch render if the substrates sound, even if it isn't stabilise it then two passes of scratch render to 15mm
