Folks I'm after your wisdom
I'm no plaster, but I'm fairly competent in skimming over plasterboard.
Doing a kitchen at the moment and the wall isn't the best.
Got the tiles off and under is a flexible grey coat of who knows what and under that, the original browning / bonding coat.
Rather than rip everything off I want to skimming over it. As its quite old (and a little crumbly in places), do I use a week mix of pva and water just to hold it together, or just a coat of pure PVA to seal it then crack on when its dried.
Would be really grateful on some advice on the best prep for skimming.
Thanks all
