Hello
Im an architect and looking to specific a project with a render finish similar to the attached photo. Could anyone advise on what you would call these two methods of render finish?

The lower half appears to be a rough dragged finish but not in any particular direction, while the top half appears to be a smooth finish with vertical scored lines dragged through it.

Thanks!!

pleasure

Why do want the specific name?
So as to tell everyone never to agree having it done? Awful
Looks like tile adhesive combed up and they are just about to stick tiles on it

Bottom looks like what Americans call a stucco finish. Freestyle rough textured, quite light though.

Top half, all the tiles have fallen off.

It's @Casper artex finished top and bottom.

Makes no difference what you ask for on the day.

The top looks like its been ruled with a serrated edge?

The bottom is self made to a artex kind of finish and unique to whoever did it. I would imagine a fatty mix and some kind of self made tool coved in a plastic bag.

i don't like the top it looks like it has been laid on with a notched trowel .

the lower one we call a California finish. a flat render panel, then small blobs of mortar flicked on to the wall and just laced with a trowel. to give the effect of the render. sometimes done with red coloured mortar.
