Hi,

I've searched the threads on this forum for an answer and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on erecting scaffolding and the relevant laws, acts and regulations in the UK.

I would like some information on erecting scaffolding externally and internally on buildings.

Im aware there may be a difference between erecting an temporary access tower and scaffolding.. so any difference in legislation could be discussed.

Once we have addressed the laws , acts and regulations within the UK. Maybe we can get some Information out there on international laws.

It's easy, you are liable. If in doubt employ a scaffolder, but you will still be liable.

Make sure your mates off the tower before you take out a pole below him like I did. Took out a diagonal too soon and dumped him onto the concrete from above head height. All things considered I think he was very good about it, and I still feel very bad about my fckup.

It was late, getting dark, a long day and I was tired and we were trying to hurry stripping the tower down. I think that's the reason why it happened, but is not an acceptable excuse.

So are you saying that @JessThePlasterer isn't allowed on a scaffold? It was a big enough blow for her to find out that hop ups are rated for a maximum 150kg.
She'll just have to stay at ground level at this rate.

That's only pounds per vertical inch. Luckily there aren't many vertical inches to multiply by so in fact he doesn't weigh all that much.
