When returning a cornice into the wall say at a raked ceiling or hallway how far should it be back? I've done my hallway and it bugs me I have set one back about four inch and one finishing at the corner coz I got bullied off the wife what's the reason for setting it back? I remember being taught a reason but can't remember but personally it looks more decorative and doesn't look like a mistake or squashed if it's set back and you can see it. So is their a historical reason or rule of thumb or maybe it's a personal choice?
