I usually cut noggins that I wedge in real tight into the web of the steel. This gives me something to fix the board into. I'll over sail the board so I can fix a baton through it on the underside of the steel. Do this on both sides of the steel and then you can fix a board on the underside into the batons and then knife off the excess board and give it a surf off.
