Replastering?

Renovate

Hi all, wondering if someone can advise.
We’ve had issue after issue since moving into our house last year- a previous shower leak covered up for 10+ yrs (according to a tiler and joiner we used) has left this on our wall under the bathroom.

Does this look like it needs ripping out and redoing? It’s been wallpaper free for about 9 months now, no other dark patches except these two. I assume the plaster is completely soaked so it can’t dry out any further?

Hard to tell from a pic

I've been to jobs before when it's dark like that, and you expect it to be off the scale and it's dry as a bone.

It was just contaminated and stayed dark.

For you - going forward - you need a meter on it to check it's dry.

If it is and it's solid you can progress.
(But you'd need a stain blocker)

If it's a damp reading though or is blown, off she comes.
