I was doing some work for a local council before and that was the spec I don't get why so just fote id ask. If not eml what wold u recommend. The brickwork is pointed btw.

With old red brick make sure it is clean. If not pressure washer it. If it is traditional sand and cement render you are using then apply a SBR bonding coat then while it is wet apply your usual scratch coat on top. Sbr is mixed with neat cement into a brushable slurry. If it is a more modern render then ask the manufacturer for advice. They will usually specify a high polymer base coat.

Also wot temp should u not render in?

On red bricks you should use that microgobitis stuff, is that right Paul?
And never render if it's to hot or to cold and if the temperature is just right for rendering then it is also just right for fishing and fishing must take priority.
