Rendering large soffit overhang

We have a large 900mm timber overhang creating a canopy in our extension that we had intended to render along with the soffits. The plasterer has concerns about working overhead with render and whether render is suitable.

The soffit and facia have so far been lined with cement board. Can anyone suggest a render system that we can look at for this soffit overhang application?

Well he isn't much of a plasterer/renderer then.

I would have used Knauf Aqu panel board external. With a thin coat render system.
