Rendering bay with ocr

have just chopped my bay off at home and its in a right state ie big cracks and loose bricks due to the movement between the bay windows over the years, am going to slate the loose bricks, whats best for the big cracks?? Am going to rend aid it then ocr it... Do i mesh the rend aid or the ocr??? Any advice would be appreciated,, cheers
 
Are you talking about the bay under the living room window? Take out the loose bricks and re-lay. For the rend aid fully mesh and if you can fully mesh the ocr for good measure.
 
its the bay between living room and bedroom.. was just going to slate the loose bricks,, what about the big cracks or will the rend aid and mesh get over this??? cheers
 
Photo would help, if it needs to be re built so be it, if not maybe stainless steel eml ,then perhaps an sbr scud before OCR with the mesh, what rigs by says is a good way to go..
 
You may want to stitch the cracks with some helibars? Would help with any future movement:RpS_thumbup:
 
yes bays in a bad way but dont really want to rebuild it,, the bloke next door had his done last year and they just expanded metal it and rendered it in sand and cement and no cracks have appeared as off yet...just got a couple off bad cracks and some loose bricks where my bricky mate will slate and re point... whats helibars and whats the process with them..cheers lads

Basically rake out the mortar between courses, deep into the bed, clean out with water ,inject or use a pointing trowel and insert part of the two part product,then insert the bar,then more of the two part product, link below should help..

A bit unusual this having a brick built bay between the windows? Usually timber frame. There is a early 50's site I know off that built blocks between the timber frame but a full bay out of brick? Thats a lot of weight sitting on the living room window frame.

If it not a bay but above one and flat then you might have a sagging wooden lintel. You need to helibar it but have 2 bars side by side above the lead line and span at least 500mm past the opening, more the better. Put some 1m bars in line with the window sill and end of the lintel. That's where the stress cracks will be. Then either expamet it or mesh. Both if you can as expamet is a render carrier.
